Beginners’ Course

Introduction to Archery Course

Ever thought you’d like to try your hand at archery?  Then the Ashbourne Archers Beginners Course could be for you!

We offer a beginners course for over 12s approximately every 10 weeks on a Tuesday evening in the indoor arena of Donaghmore Ashbourne GAA.  Club (see the Events Calendar page for precise dates).  Each course lasts for a duration of 6 weeks, however we understand that participants may have commitments which will mean that they may miss one or two of the six classes. With this in mind we allow a two week buffer so that everybody has the chance to complete the beginners course.

Each beginners courses will be provided by Coaching Ireland trained and certified coaches on Tuesday evenings from 8:00pm to 10:00pm and costs €90 for adults and €70 for under 18s.

How to Book Your Place

Places are limited to 10 participants on each beginners course.  To book your place, click here to download our beginners course form, complete the application form and return with a deposit of €40 for adults and €30 for under 18s to secure your place.  The course fee must be paid in full before commencement and can be done on the first night.

All equipment will be provided for the duration of the course in the form of:

  • Bow
  • Arrows
  • Finger-tab
  • Arm-guard
  • Quiver

At the end of the beginners course, each participant will be presented with a certificate of completion. Once you have completed your beginners course we will be happy to advise you on the purchase of your own bow, arrows and accessories.

We also run a number of ‘Have-A-Go’ sessions throughout the year and this is your chance to come along to meet our team, to shoot a few arrows and find out more about archery and the club.  These events are free of charge and again will be announced on our Facebook page and on our Events Calendar.
